1. PUSH - First-time use: Hold the marker tip up vertically. Press the tip slightly to release pressure.
2. SHAKE - With the cap on, shake the marker vigorously while in the upright position. Remove the cap before use.
3. PUSH - Press the marker tip for a few seconds until the tip fills with ink. Recap after each use and store at room temperature.
4. REVERSIBLE TIP - All Loddie Doddie Chalk Markers have two tip styles (a chisel tip and a bullet tip). To reverse the tip, pull the tip out of the end of the barrel. Turn the tip around and reinsert it into the barrel.
If the tip of the marker seems dry and the ink does not flow out smoothly, simply take the tip out of the barrel and run it under warm water for a few minutes. Then, reinsert the tip back into the barrel and begin to follow the first-time use directions.

If you want to preserve your chalk drawing on your board permanently, we recommend using either Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Spray or, if you prefer a matte finish, then Aleene's Spray Acrylic Sealer Matte Finish will work well. A single coat should do if you are sealing over top of your chalk markers so they can't be erased. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions on the spray can.
Yes, they can be used on paper just keep in mind since they are liquid chalk markers they may bleed through thin paper.
The chalk markers will tend to be dried out, watery or not as vibrant if the ink is not mixed up well inside the barrel prior to use. With the cap on, shake the marker for 10-15 seconds to make sure the ink is mixed up well. Then, make sure that the lid is on the marker first before giving it a good shake. Remove the lid and press down the nib on a test surface–do so firmly to pump the marker until the chalk ink floods the nib and produces a smooth mark. If your marker is still not as vibrant as it should be, take the tip out of the marker and soak in warm water for 2 minutes to get the non-mixed ink out of the nib. Then follow the same directions for the initial use. This will fill the tip with the well mixed ink and perform as it should.
